Executive producer Ralph Farquhar has been teasing the possibility of a live-action version of “The Proud Family,” revealing that he made pitches for it several years ago.
Ralph Farquhar, the executive producer, has unveiled previous plans to bring “The Proud Family” into the live-action realm. The animated series aired on the Disney Channel from 2001 to 2005 and introduced viewers to the adventurous world of Penny Proud and her family.
The show gained popularity for its representation, humor, and exploration of the early teenage years. It culminated with the release of “The Proud Family Movie.”
Recognizing its success, a revival titled “The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder” premiered on Disney+ in 2022. The highly anticipated revival welcomes back the original voice actors, including Kyla Pratt, Karen Malina White, Jo Marie Payton, Paula Jai Parker, Tommy Davidson, and more, ensuring a nostalgic and exciting continuation of the beloved series.
In a recent interview with CinemaBlend, the executive producer, Ralph Farquhar discussed the potential for a reboot of “The Proud Family” before releasing “The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder.” The original series comprised only two seasons and left fans hungry for more.
Farquhar revealed that he and creator Bruce W. Smith had pitched ideas to extend the show, including the possibility of a live-action adaptation.

“Well, to be perfectly honest, when we first went off [the air], we felt like, ‘Why are we off?’ So Bruce and I were pitching every year since 2005, up until we got picked up [for Louder and Prouder], and we pitched live-action, we pitched live-action and animation, we pitched a whole bunch of things. o Proud Family could, I think, obviously really work as a live-action show. But one thing I was personally always enamored with was the whole notion of having live-action characters that did squash and stretch, you know?”
